At Abodo, we're transforming timber design with sustainable, innovative rapidly renewable alternatives that supersede old growth.
About Abodo
Abodo exists to create feature timbers that stand for something, a movement toward better forestry practices and sustainable innovation.
To protect ancient, irreplaceable forests, we use purpose-grown, rapidly renewable timber from the best New Growth forestry sources.
Rapidly Renewable:
Sustainably grown, FSC® certified timber from biodiverse New Zealand Radiata plantations.
Patented Performance:
Heat tempered and precision-crafted for exceptional performance, stability and longevity. Featuring Abodo's distinctive vertical grain.
Natural Beauty:
Honouring the essence of timber - its grain, texture, and connection to the natural world.
The architects were inspired by the neighbouring Brighton Sea Baths and Marina. “These monolithic structures stretch out into the bay to create pockets of calm water. The project extends upon themes embedded within these structures: shelter, enclosure and protection,” says Joseph Lovell.
Every journey towards sustainability is a work in progress, and ours is no exception.
This first Abodo® Impact Report captures the steps we’ve taken so far, the challenges we’re still navigating, and the proof points that show how our words line up with our actions.
Like most 1970s builds, the original Shakespeare House in Bateau Bay was structurally sound but a little tired, prompting Fabric Architecture to reuse the existing form, beginning their redesign from the inside out.
The Abodo timber was light and straight to work with, providing an exceptional level of detail, low tolerances and a high quality finish. The usual timber acclimatisation process was non-existent, compared to standard hardwood. From an architectural perspective, Abodo’s colour stain range and profiles also provide a wide array of design opportunities."
