Here in New Zealand timber shingles were most recently popular in 1950s architecture, but they are enjoying a renaissance today in high-end architecture, resorts, tiny cabins, and homes.

Vulcan Shingles are an advanced modern-day timber shingle.
To meet demand for a technologically advanced timber shingle less prone to warping and cupping, Abodo has crafted a Vulcan Shingle from thermally modified laminated blocks recovered from production off-cuts of Vulcan weatherboards.

Design and build-friendly Vulcan Shingles system extends durability in service.
Reducing condensation and moisture ingress, Abodo has also developed a Vulcan timber shingle ventilation cavity installation system that allows the roof and/or wall to breathe, with the goal to extend the durability of the timber.

Open to advance orders with a lead time of 6 weeks.
As an alternative to cedar, Abodo is offering advance technical information and Vulcan Shingle orders with a lead time of 6 weeks, with the addition of an installation system behind it.

Product features:

• Vulcan Shingles are created from thermally modified New Zealand plantation timber and engineered with a patented vertical grain construction for superior weathering characteristics.

• A fine sawn face allows a depth of grain and optimal weathering performance.

• The thermal modification process combined with vertical grain structure and OPX water-based preservation system means Vulcan Shingles have enhanced stability and reduced resin content.

• The beautiful homogenous brown colour of Vulcan Shingles will silver off with exposure to weather if left uncoated.

• Vulcan Shingles provide a unique high end architectural finish for roof, wall, and gable end applications.

• Two profiles available: 90mm x 450mm or 120mm x 450mm – can be supplied as single or mixed width. Thickness: 12mm / 6mm tapered with bandsawn face.

• Can be left uncoated or suitable for coating if desired.
