Meet Steve Napier

With extensive timber knowledge, deep understanding of architectural detailing, and passion for business development and marketing, Steve is something of a rare gem.

He came to Abodo in 2019 after many years working in the building game for both up-and-coming and established timber-based suppliers, and brings out-of-the-box thinking to his everyday work, as he searches for fresh and impactful ways to market and sell products.

A self-proclaimed ‘typical Leo’, he enjoys being centre of attention, which is perhaps why the extensive Abodo webinar program has continued to be such a success since being led by Steve and his team in lockdown.

In his everyday work, he meets with architects and other specifiers in the New South Wales and ACT areas, with an elevated aim to help Abodo become ‘untouchable market leaders’. His favourite Abodo project is the Cardrona Cabin, chosen for its sustainability and simplicity. He sees the future of wood as being exactly that: simply sustainable.

When he’s not working, you might find Steve soaking up the solace of the natural world, whether that involves peering out at the ocean or walking in the bush. Steve also believes in making a palpable impact on his community, which is why he volunteers his time at a charity for HIV sufferers.

With a love for tactile experiences, Steve is fascinated by the influence design can have on the human mindset. This is illustrated by his favourite quote from esteemed design journalist Alice Rawsthorn: Design is an agent of change.
