Engineered from thermally modified plantation timber with a unique vertical grain, Abodo Vulcan Screening is a high performance natural exterior timber.
Used to beautiful effect on the iconic Cardrona Cabin, Abodo Vulcan Screening is a high performance product designed to weather gracefully in harsh environments.
Derived from FSC® certified local plantation forests, this is an excellent renewable alternative to cedar for use in rainscreen, batten, louvre and beam applications.
Available in a number of profiles and sizes, Vulcan Screening can be used to add a stylish timber element to any project, from a more traditional extension or renovation to a contemporary design.
With Abodo’s patented vertical grain orientation paired with the rigours of the thermal modification process, Vulcan Screening is a robust material that won’t warp or cup in extreme temperatures.
Customisable in a range of bandsawn finishes for a unique look and feel, Vulcan Screening results in clean, modern lines and a finish that will turn heads.
Choose brushed or bandsawn finishes, to customise your design. Brushed brings additional texture.

Vulcan timbers are treated with heat and steam rather than chemicals, which means the product is ‘pre-shrunk’ and will be more stable in service.
Natural Stability
Grown trees experience resistance (like wind for example) perpendicular to the grain, so it makes sense to produce wood products which are also cut perpendicular to the grain. This product is vertical grain, which means greater stability, and less surface cracking. Naturally.
Termite Resistant
Treated with LOSP (Light Organic Solvent Preservative) to H3 level. See 25 year warranty statement.
Non-Arsenic
Arsenic is a common preservative for exterior timber. This product does not contain arsenic and is a non-toxic wood.
Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Certified
A guarantee that forest products come from responsibly managed sources, including forest management and chain of custody.
Declare Certified
Declare certified Red List Free by the Living Futures Institute, the leading label in transparency for building products.
Carbon Storage
Each square metre of Abodo's Vulcan solid timber is proven to store 7.56kg+ of carbon, more than twice the carbon emitted during the manufacturing process. This means carbon is essentially locked in the wood during its useful life.
Yes. For most profiles, we offer various corner, flashing, fascia and finishing profiles to match the cladding boards. Using these accessories will ensure optimal performance of the system in service.
